GI Joe’s story was about an animated American soldier which dates its foundation in 1942 and created a huge industry in recent decades. GI Joe action figures served to inspire young Americans to serve and defend the nation, not to mention its official GI Joe Collector’s Club annual meeting held for ten years.
The 10th Annual Convention was in New Orleans in the year 2006, with Sgt. Slaughter as special guest in attendance. The success of GI Joe story is both a commercial success and evidence of American heroism. Did you know that most of the recent GI action figures are based on real-life military and civilian Heroes – such as Dwight Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Bob Hope, Ernie Pyle, George Washington and Theodore Roosevelt?
GI Joe made its debut as an animated American soldier in June 17, 1942, which was created by David Breger in the military’s YANK magazine. The GI Joe name entered households in America, along with its movie release The Story of GI Joe in 1945. The driving force behind GI Joe’s commercialization was the toy industry.

There are plenty of Star Wars toys in existence today, because ever since the franchise got started in 1977, it has yet to slow down. It seems like every couple of years they release another film with great success. So, there are plenty of toys still on shelves in the store, but they don’t really compare to having some great vintage Star Wars toys.
You are unlikely to find a fan base quite as considerable as that of this franchise. People have dedicated their lives to finding the rare and unknown in terms of collectibles. For many, this is a chance to get a piece of their childhood back, as so many children found joy in playing with some of these vintage Star Wars toys when they weren’t vintage.
But what are the best toys for you to get? Well, that all depends on the purpose of the purchase. You see, if you are looking for these vintage toys on a basis of resale, then there are specific models and figurines you want to seek out. If you are just looking for a bit of nostalgia, than you need to find what made a difference in your childhood. Perhaps it was a Luke Skywalker, or maybe it was R2D2 and C3PO.

When it comes to the Transformers, everybody has their favourite. But who would think that so many would choose the Transformers Starscream robot as the best of all? And not just of the Decepticons but out of the entire Transformers universe?
Before we can talk about Starscream, we need to talk about the Transformers, in a pure reality sense of the title. The Transformers are a line of robot toys produced by Hasbro as early as the 1970s. The toys were simple enough and Hasbro was excited by its G. I. Joe toy series and wanted to keep the ball rolling. Writers were hired and back story was created to bring the Transformers to life.
The crux of the Transformers universe is that two opposing forces of sentient robots from a planet called Cybertron crash land on prehistoric earth and wake sometime in the future. The two leaders are Optimus Prime, of the Autobots, and Megatron, of the Decepticons. They have with them their finest soldiers and generals, and this is where Starscream comes into play.

If you’re wise to the most recent box office smash hits, you’re familiar with the Transformers series of films that have been put out. Though there are just 2 installations, you can be promised a lot of to come out in the coming years. You may not realize that these films were prefaced of comic books, novels and a couple of animated television shows. There are a lot of Transformers that you may see a benefit in recognizing for the sake of interpreting the films more effectively. With the exception of Optimus Prime, possibly the most significant to recognize is Transformers Megatron.
For the sake of this article, however, I will stick to the finer points of Megatron. This is a hugely important name to know in terms of learning what there is to know about the Transformers.
Much like Optimus Prime and the Autobots, Megatron is a very powerful and respected leader. Through the course of many comics and episodes, it became evident that Megatron was the most effective and feared leader that the Decepticons ever had. He ruled by fear tactics and through violent outbursts. He was a brutal force in the war on Cybertron as well.

If you are a 5 year old kid, it’s hamsters. If you are a teenager, then it’s Twilight. What, you haven’t heard of the Twilight series ? Some have even described it as a cultural phenomenon because of the extent that it has moved people. In short, it is a romance story about a teenage girl that falls for a vampire. And with the recent release of the 2nd movie, New Moon, various merchandise has been produced to tie in.
One such item that ties in is the Twilight Doll toys and action figures. They are bound to be a best selling toy, giving Twilight fans a chance to make their own romantic scenes with Bella and Edward. Or many people will prefer to leave them in the packaging as a collectible.
At present there are two varieties of Twilight dolls. There are the dolls made by Mattel and those made by NECA.

Action figure toys have been in action for quite some time, dating as far back as the 60s. The first action figure was the G.I. Joe, a soldier toy that was basically designed to be a doll targeted at boys so that their playtime wouldn’t be labeled as “playing with dolls.” G.I. Joe functioned like a male military Barbie with changeable clothes and accessories. Since their conception, G.I. Joe action figures have been a staple of the toy line market, joined by other action figure franchises like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transformers, Gundam, Spawn, and countless others that are often based on popular cartoons and comics.
It’s subtle, but action figure toys actually have a lot to say about cultural views of gender. For starters, they represent how even activities like playtime are segregated according to what’s seen as appropriate for girls, and what boys should do. Boys play with action figures while girls play with dolls, yet both toys are essentially the same concept. Action figure toys also represent stereotypical attitudes toward the separate roles and characteristics of girls and boys in our society. Girls participate in more domestic, passive activities, and boys take part in active endeavors-Barbie shops, cooks and takes care of her baby sister Kelly while G.I. Joe runs around with guns and shoots stuff up.
True, girls and boys gravitate towards certain activities and tend to have certain characteristics, but one wonders how much of that is attributed to biology and how much is due to cultural standards. Gender isn’t always so clean cut-there are also people who sometimes transgress the boundaries of gender roles.
