Hey it’s family night again and you are all looking at one another like “what do we do now?” As cheesy as it sounds; board games are still fun. Picking the right board game for family night or a group is important, so here are some tips to help you out some.
Knowing who you are going to be playing board games with is import as well. You will need to take into account the average age, number of players and the kind of players that will be playing the games you are about to spring on your unsuspecting victims.
The number of players does matter. I know you can have like 8 people playing Monopoly and that is a pretty good number of folks. But what about other games? Are you going to have to divide up into teams? If so, throw everyone a curve and numbers in a hat, like say 1-4 two times. The people that draw the same number are on a team.

LEGO Imperial Flagship 10210 is brand new and can be purchased after January 1, 2010. You will find three areas of the ship than can be taken apart. The ship looks completely real and is a great creation from the LEGO people.
There are windows that open, real working doors, telescopes, and other items that actually work. You get 9 figures that go with your flagship. The figures come assembled but the ship will require you to build it.
This toy requires the customer to be over 14 because there are so many pieces in the set. Small children could choke on the small pieces so it is not suitable for them to have. This ship has a kitchen, fish, anchors, and cannons that look real.

New Zealand had a long history of innovation, so it’s nice to see Endeavor, the board game, begin to turn heads internationally. Released by Z-Man Games, Endeavor was created by Carl de Visser and Jarratt Gray from Wellington, New Zealand.
In the game, you live in the time of Empire: maps are still blank and need some colour and shape. As a great power, you need to send ships to new countries, negotiate new deals, and conquer when politics fail. There’s great wealth and power to be found around the world, but they need to be discovered and exploited … Do you have the tactics and strength to create — and control — your Empire?
Your mission starts with the creation of sea lanes, which allow access to far off countries. Or at least around the Mediterranean. Once you have reached there, it’s up to you to deploy your resources wisely and make the most of every opportunity. Strategy is balanced against strength; wit against war as you endeavor to build and hold sway over your Empire. It is important to find a good combination of techniques, as there is no simple path to world domination!

Be a Roman impresario when you play Colosseum, the board game. If you manage to attract the most people to your event, you can win gold and fame. Using the profits from each event, you can build up to have the most stunning performances in ancient Rome. You’ll also need to upgrade your arena, promote your event and gain assets and actors to bring more people into your show. Your goal, to become the Grand Impresario, relies on a balanced strategy and the roll of the dice.
There are five difference phases per round (except the final round, with only four phases). The leading player changes each round, to help balance things out. Each player is responsible for their own arena and begins with the choice of two different events. For each event you run, you need to use asset cards (which show people, props and animals) as well as ensure your arena is big enough to stage the show. You can buy, trade and sell asset cards at certain phases of the game.
The first phase of Colosseum allows you to invest as follows: 1. Enlarging your arena so bigger spectacles can be performed. 2. Getting two dice rolls by building the Emperor’s Loge. 3. Getting five extra spectators by purchasing a season ticket. 4. Buying a new event card. In addition, there are five markets from which to buy asset cards and you can start an auction against your competitors in order to win them.

Toy companies are always coming out with something new that kids just can’t live without. If you are buying for a child that likes to collect things then Bakugan toys might be a good idea. Anything new can be a bit confusing at first so I got my son to help me put together a basic guide to go buy when shopping for these.
First a little general information may be of help. Bakugan toys are collectables that can be used to battle other children. They come in all shape and colors and they have cards to go with them. The cards are as important, if not more important, than the actual Bakugan. The cards determine special abilities and attributes that can raise the power of the Bakugan which will determine the winner. Bakugan are magnetic and open when in contact with metal.
These are usually found in any major toy store or you can buy them online as well. The price varies according to exactly what you want to get. Duplicates are sometimes helpful because they may have different point values but you may want to check their collection before buying any.
